LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – Coming off the win against UNR last week, the UNLV volleyball team (15-11, 7-7 Mountain West) prepares for their final weekend at Cox Pavilion in the regular season this weekend. They'll first face off on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. against Colorado State and then host Senior Day against Wyoming on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
The Rebels' Thursday-night showdown against the Rams will be a rematch from UNLV's loss against Colorado State back on Sept. 30 while the program will look to complete the season sweep against the Cowgirls after the 3-2 win back on Sept. 28.
LAST WEEK: UNLV swept the Wolf Pack last week in the second Silver State Series match of the season, dominating UNR in the 3-0 victory. The team fell to Fresno State in a tight battle in Cox Pavilion earlier in the week, falling on a 3-1 final score.
REBEL LEADERS: UNLV still remains a top-three team in hitting percentage among the Mountain West, putting together a .252 rate against opposing teams that lead to an average of 13.11 kills per set.
Isabel Martin still heads the Rebels' offense with hitting over four kills per set (4.15), ranking second in the conference in that and in points per set as well (4.76). The offense is complemented by UNLV's pair of middle blockers in
Jordyn Freeman and
Dakota Quinlan, the duo ranking fifth and sixth overall in the Mountain West in hitting percentage at .351 and .359, respectively.
Freeman continues to display threats on both sides of the net, remaining among the top-three blockers in the Mountain West with 1.25 blocks per set. The Rebels have two student-athletes at sixth in two different statistical categories,
Arien Fafard registering 8.45 assists per set while
Livvy Setla earns .39 service aces per set during conference matches.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS:
Colorado State (15-10, 9-5):
The Rams hold one of the conference's most efficient offenses, pacing the league with a .286 hitting percentage in the final weekends of the regular season. Ranking second as a team in both kills (13.90) and assists (12.52) per set, the Rebels will look to outpace Colorado State's defense that ranks ninth in blocks per set (2.19) and digs per set (12.46). The Rams' offense is headed by Naeemah Weathers and Emery Herman, the duo ranking first in the Mountain West three individual statistical categories overall. Weathers holds a .435 attack rate while Herman averages 10.73 assists per set and .45 service aces per set.
Wyoming (17-8, 6-8):
The Cowgirls boast a strong defense, the program only allowing a hitting percentage of .205 and over 300 errors that ranks third in the conference. The team leads the Mountain West in blocks per set, Sarah Holcom (1.38) leading all individuals with Tierney Barlow (1.15) rounding out the top five to push a team average to 2.81. Wyoming packs their offensive gameplan around Kasia Partyka and Rylee Schulz, the duo leading the team with the former tallying 10.17 assists per set and the later hitting 3.28 kills per set.

REBEL ROSTER MAKEUP: The Rebels, who are led by first-year head coach
Malia Shoji, returned 11 letterwinners from last season's team, including the 2022 MW Player of the Year and the 2023 Preseason MW Player of the Year in senior outside hitter
Isabel Martin. Also returning are last season's all-conference honorees: senior outside hitter
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos and senior middle blocker
Jordyn Freeman.
Martin also earned all-region honors last season and was named an honorable mention All-American.
The Rebels have also added five new players to their 2023 roster.
PRESEASON FAVORITES: UNLV was named the preseason league favorite along with Utah State in a
poll voted on by the conference's head coaches.
LAST SEASON: UNLV went 26-5 overall in 2022, including a 17-1 record in Mountain West play, and made another NCAA Tournament appearance.
