LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball program will send Dakota Quinlan, Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos and Jordyn Freeman to the USA Volleyball Collegiate Team Tryouts held February 24-26 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
"This is such a great opportunity for Jordyn, Gabrielle and Dakota to go and compete with, and learn from some of the best players and coaches in the world," said head coach Malia Shoji. "What they learn through this experience, and the knowledge they will return with, will help launch them, and UNLV volleyball, to another level going into the Fall of 2023."
More than 200 women's volleyball players will converge for the U.S. Women's National Team Open Program. The WNT Open Program is used for consideration to both the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. In 2023, members of the U.S. Women's National Team will compete in the following evenings: Volleyball Nations League, Paris Olympic Qualifier, Pan American Cup and NORCECA Continental Championship.
More than 45 top volleyball coaches will also be at the Training Center to help run the program and evaluate the athletes. They will join U.S. Women's National Team staff including Head Coach Karch Kiraly, Assistant Coach Erin Virtue (head coach at Michigan), Assistant Coach Tama Miyashiron and Assistant Coach Alfee Reft (head coach at UCLA).
