Caden Fioroni fired a final-round 3-under 69 Tuesday to finish tied for fifth place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate hosted by the Rebels at Southern Highlands Golf Club (Par 72, 7,510 yards).
The San Diego native, who tallied five of his team-high 13 birdies in the third round, finished at 8-under 208 for the tournament for his first top-5 finish of the spring and fourth overall since the fall.
The individual champion was No. 11 Florida's Yuxin Lin at 13-under 203 through 54-holes. He subsequently claimed an exemption into the PGA Tour's Shriners Children's Open at TPC Summerlin in October.
Making a huge leap up the team leaderboard from its previous fourth-place spot, No. 7 Illinois shot an 11-under on the day to win the team trophy and finish at 21-under 843. The Illini surpassed runner-up in No. 16 Texas (-19), No. 14 Pepperdine (-18) in third and No. 4 North Carolina (-16) in fourth on the final 18 holes of play. Meanwhile, the Rebels had their highest team finish of the spring season in 10th place at 2-over 866.

Yuki Moriyama contributed a final-round par 72 to wind up tied for 46th (+3). Completing their outing for the Scarlet & Gray lineup, senior
George Leigh (+7) and junior
Ben Sawaia (+7) tied for 59th, while freshman
Inigo Izuzquiza (+8) tied for 67th. Wrapping up play as individuals, freshman
Brayden Bozak (+12) finished 74th in his collegiate debut, freshman
Brett Sawaia (+19) completed his second career appearance and sophomore
Aaron Jarvis withdrew due to injury.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will have more than a month to prepare for its return to action at Wyoming's Cowboy Classic being held April 3-4. The tournament will be played in Chandler, Arizona, at Whirlwind Golf Club.
