LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team opened its 2023 dual-match season with a 6-1 victory over Weber State Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels actually had to rally after the Wildcats won the doubles point to earn a 1-0 lead. The hosts, however, swept the six singles matches, including a trio of three-setters.
In singles,
Molly Helgesson came back to down Ana Morett at the top of the lineup, 6-7, 7-2, 6-3;
Zita Kovacs swept Megan Lombardi, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2;
Salsa Aher got by Megan Davies, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, at No. 3;
Cindy Hu rallied past Kenadee Semenik, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4;
Coco Zhao breezed past Cidy Ping An, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5; and
Aura Fang downed Dylan Lolofie, 6-1, 6-4, on court six.
NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will welcome former league-rival Pacific to town on Saturday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches is free of charge.
