LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's golf super senior Veronica Joels has been named the Mountain West Women's Golfer Of The Week, the conference office announced Thursday. This is her first career weekly honor.

A Las Vegas local, Joels recorded her highest finish of the season at the Westbrook Invitational, tying for eighth with a season-low 4-under 212 for the tournament. She followed up her opening round 2-under 70 with back-to-back 1-under 71 rounds. The fifth-year Rebel also landed among the top 10 competitors in the event with 12 birdies.

Additionally, Joels' score helped guide the Scarlet & Gray (-2) to a tie for sixth place - the team's fourth straight sixth-or-better finish.

UP NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will next send individuals to play in South Dakota State's Jackrabbit Invitational from March 13-14 in Boulder City, Nevada, at Boulder Creek Golf Club. As a team, the Rebels will next compete in Kansas State's Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona from March 17-19.
