Santana To Represent Rebels At 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program will be represented at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships by sophomore Rosa Santana who qualified for the women's shot put event with a program record mark of 17.93m. The two-day meet will take place Friday and Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the women's shot put event is scheduled for 3 p.m. (PT) Saturday afternoon.

Santana began her record-breaking indoor season by winning the women's shot put event with a career best and breaking the previous program record with a mark of 17.53m (57-06.25) at the New Mexico Team Open, January 27. Two weeks later, she broke her own program record and the national record for the Dominican Republic at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a mark of 17.63m, securing her spot in the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Santana was crowned the women's shot put champion with a new conference championship record of 17.91m (58-09.25) to close out the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships.
