RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – Behind four top-25 individual finishes, the UNLV women's golf team took fifth place as it concluded play Thursday at the 2023 Mountain West Championship held on the Dinah Shore Course at Mission Hills Country Club (Par 72, 6,252 yards).

The Rebels' four lowest scorers were senior Nicole Lorup in 14th at 1-over 217, freshman Thienna Huynh in 16th at 3-over 219, sophomore McKenzi Hall in a tie for 17th at 4-over 220 and super senior Veronica Joels in a tie for 21st at 5-over 221. Joels and Huynh each shot even-par 72 in the final round to lead the Scarlet & Gray to its lowest round of the week at 3-over to end the tournament with a 13-over 877. Sophomore Toa Yokoyama moved up three spots with a 4-over on the day to finish 40th (+17).

The MW title went to New Mexico, which used a final-round 8-under to finish at 11-under 853 to jump five shots ahead of the runner-up in No. 10 San Jose State (-6). Finishing behind them were Colorado State (-3) in third and UNR in fourth (+12).

UNM also produced the individual champion as the Lobos' Napat Lertsadwattana won the crown at 7-under 209 for the 54-hole event. She came out on top with a two-shot advantage over SJSU's Kajsa Arwefjall (-5) in second, followed by Fresno State's Harriet Lynch (-4) and CSU's Sofia Torres (-4) and Lacey Ichida (-4) in a three-way tie for third.

UP NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will now wait to find out if its postseason continues when the NCAA Regional qualifiers are announced Wednesday, April 26 on the NCAA Women's Golf Selection Show.
