Ben Sawaia and senior
Yuki Moriyama ended the opening two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in the top 10 Monday at the Whirlwind Golf Club - Cattail Course (Par 72, 7,334 yards).
Sawaia matched his 36-hole season low at 5-under to find himself in a tie for third, while Moriyama's 36-hole season low at 4-under lands him in a tie for eighth. Their Rebel counterpart in junior
George Leigh also shot his way to a 36-hole season low at 2-over to stand in a tie for 45th.
On a day in which they fired off an 18-hole spring low of 11-under 277 in the first round, the Rebels (-4) are tied for fourth heading into the final round. Missouri is in first at 11-under to pit itself 1-shot ahead of Kansas (-10) in second, followed by Pacific (-5) in third and host Wyoming (-4) knotted up with UNLV inside the top 5.
Leading the pack of individuals, LMU's Riley Lewis is in first at 10-under. He holds a 3-shot lead over Long Beach State's Ian Gilligan (-7) in second and a five-shot advantage over five individuals tied for third.
The Scarlet & Gray lineup also includes junior
Caden Fioroni (+8) in a tie for 87th and freshman
Inigo Izuzquiza (+10) in a tie for 93rd.
