LARAMIE, Wyo. (UNLVRebels.com) – Powered by the bottom half of its lineup, the UNLV women's tennis team notched its first ranked win of the season with a gritty 4-3 final over No. 61 Colorado State at the University of Wyoming Tennis Complex Indoor Courts Saturday afternoon.

Pushed indoors again and relegated to shifts because of bad weather, the Rebels rallied from down 3-2 to improve to 12-3 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West. The Rams, meanwhile, fell to 12-6 and 2-4.

For the second straight day, the Rebels took a 1-0 lead after winning two doubles matches. Molly Helgesson and Salsa Aher won 6-1 at the top of the lineup while Cindy Hu and Coco Zhao prevailed 6-4 on court two.

In singles play, No. 4 Rebel Cindy Hu breezed by Luana Avelar, 6-3, 6-3, for the team's second point. The Rams, however, won close matches at all three top positions to take the lead. UNLV needed both of the final two courts to come through -- and that they did. Aura Fang swept Ky Ection, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 6 spot and Zhao rallied after dropping a first-set tiebreaker to fend off Viktoryia Zhadzinskaya, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, to secure the team triumph.
