LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV athletic department and women's sports teams along with the Las Vegas Aces will come together to honor the 38th annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday, January 31, by hosting a free sports clinic prior to the Lady Rebels' home game that evening against Wyoming in the Cox Pavilion.
The evening will begin with a free sports clinic involving players and staff from several athletic teams at UNLV and members of the Aces Team who will be helping put on the event for kids (8th graders and under) at the Thomas & Mack Center. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. for registration while the clinic begins at 5:30 p.m., with different stations set up across the TMC floor. Following the event, all participants are invited to attend the UNLV Lady Rebels Mountain West contest against Wyoming for free, with the game tipping-off at 6:30 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion. All participants will receive a free rally towel and free food after the completion of the clinic ahead of tip-off.
Members of the Las Vegas Aces will also be at the Lady Rebels' game. The Aces will also have their 2023 WNBA Championship Trophy in attendance and fans can take photos with the trophy which will be located on the concourse.
Tickets for the game are $6 when purchased in advance online at UNLVTickets.com. General admission tickets at the door are $10 ($8 for seniors, UNLV faculty/staff and alumni). UNLV students and Nevada high school students (presenting student ID) as well as all children 12 and under enter free.
NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies, and activities honoring the achievements and encouraging participation of girls and women in sports, starting back in 1987. The national-wide celebration is jointly organized by the Women's Sports Foundation who are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2024.
