LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team completed a doubleheader sweep on Sunday with a 4-0 win over UC Riverside to close out a weekend quad at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 4-1 while the Highlanders fell to 0-6. UNLV downed New Mexico State by the same score earlier in the day.
 
Against UCR, the hosts won the first two completed doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead. Jackson Atherton and Anton Ornberg downed Joshua Roth and Justin Lamy, 6-1, while Illia Maksymchuk and Taiyo Hirano defeated Ryan Huynh and Aarav Sane, 6-3.
 
In singles, the hosts got a trio of straight-set wins to clinch the team victory. Ornberg downed Roth, 6-2, 6-1; Maksymchuk swept Aarav Sane, 6-1, 6-1; and Hirano rolled by Joey Zhou, 6-2, 6-0, to end things.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Senior Anton Orberg, playing at the top of the lineup, won both his doubles match and singles match in short order.
 
QUOTABLE: "I was pleased with the sharp, disciplined match, especially considering it was the fourth one in three days for us. Now we are eager to see if we can compete with a Top 10 opponent at USC next week."
