LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's basketball senior Desi-Rae Young has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A Las Vegas native out of Desert Oasis High School, Young led the Lady Rebels to back-to-back wins over Boise State and in-state rival UNR to remain atop the Mountain West standings. She averaged 20.5 points per game while shooting 61.3 percent from the field and was perfect from the charity stripe.
Young collected her 43rd career double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds against the Broncos and had a game-high-tying 16 points against the Wolf Pack.
