LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's top-seeded doubles team of
Cindy Hu and
Coco Zhao closed out their week of work by winning third place at the inaugural Mountain West Fall Qualifier staged at the Darling Tennis Center.
On Saturday, Hu and Zhao rallied after the first set and outlasted Cheuk Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia of San Jose State, 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6).
In the pilot year of this new championship format, each NCAA Division 1 AQ-eligible conference will host a tournament to designate one singles player and one doubles pair on both the men's and women's side to represent them in the ITA Conference Masters tournament, which is one of four qualifying pathways to this year's NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
