Yuki Moriyama moved into the top 20 after Friday's second round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Hawai'i at the Ocean Course at Hōkūala (Par 72, 7,156 yards).
Moriyama, who carded a 1-under 71 and six birdies on day two, leaped from 50th into a tie for 20th at 1-under through 36 holes.
Hovering just outside the top 30 behind his Rebel counterpart on the individual leaderboard, senior
Caden Fioroni is tied for 31st at 1-over. Following the senior duo in the Scarlet & Gray lineup are sophomore
Wyatt Plattner (+4) in a tie for 63rd after his own six-birdie round, junior
Trevor Lewis (+5) in a tie for 74th, freshman
Hogan Park (+9) as an individual in a tie for 93rd and senior
Ben Sawaia (+11) in a tie for 99th.
Taking over the team lead, Arizona (-9) was the closest team to par on the day with a 1-over 289 to take a three-shot lead over Grand Canyon in second. Fresno State's Joseph Lloyd tied for the day-two lowest round at 5-under to move atop the individual leaderboard at 8-under for the tournament. UNLV (+4), which stands at 11th, will look to climb back into the top 10 on the last day of action.
