LIHUE, Hawai'i (UNLVRebels.com) – Behind four players shooting par or better Saturday, UNLV men's golf used a final-round 5-under 283 to finish sixth at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate hosted by Hawai'i at the Ocean Course at Hōkūala (Par 72, 7,156 yards).

Ben Sawaia's and sophomore
Wyatt Plattner's matching 2-under 70 scores, senior
Caden Fioroni's 1-under 71 and junior
Trevor Lewis' even-par 72, the Rebels moved five spots up the leaderboard. The Scarlet & Gray's lowest round of the weekend included a combined four eagles, including two from Plattner and one apiece from Sawaia and Lewis.
One of only six teams to shoot below par for the tournament, the Scarlet & Gray combined to shoot a 1-under 863 through 54 holes. The squad finished only behind the event's champion in No.9 Arizona (-20), runner-up in No. 20 Cal (-17), No. 16 New Mexico (-10) in third, Grand Canyon (-7) in fourth and Texas A&M (-3) in fifth.
Representing the Rebel lineup, Fioroni (68-77-71) tied for 28th at even-par 216, while Plattner (+2) tied for 36th, senior
Yuki Moriyama (+4) tied for 47th, Lewis (+5) tied for 50th and Sawaia (+9) tied for 75th. Playing as an individual, freshman
Hogan Park (+18) tied for 108th.
Individual medalist honors went to UNM's Bastien Amat (69-70-64) at 13-under 203 through 54 holes.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will host their annual Southern Highlands Collegiate, which starts Sunday, Feb. 25 at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
OTHER NOTES:
- The Rebels have now placed eighth or better in each of their six tournaments of the 2023-24 season.
- As a team, UNLV has shot below par in five of its last six rounds.
- For the tournament, the Scarlet & Gray lineup finished with a season-high six eagles.
