SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's golf team had three individuals record top-25 finishes to close the regular season in Wednesday's final round at San Jose State's Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club (Par 70, 6,486 yards).
The Rebels' top finish came from junior
Trevor Lewis (+3), who shot a final-round 1-under 69 to tie for 21st. Rounding out the top Scarlet & Gray scoring trio, seniors
Yuki Moriyama (+4) and
Caden Fioroni (+4) posted matching 1-over 71 scorecards in the final round as each both tied for 25th.
Hanging on for the team victory, Stanford shot a final-round 1-under 349 on the way to a final score of 8-over 1058. Arizona's Filip Jakubcik held on to his lead with an even-par 70 in the third round for individual medalist honors at 4-under 206 for the tournament.
Also representing the Scarlet & Gray were senior
Ben Sawaia (+16) in 75th, sophomore
Wyatt Plattner (+17) in a tie for 76th and sophomore
Brett Sawaia (+25) in 90th.
UP NEXT: UNLV will turn its attention to the 2024 Mountain West Championship, which is scheduled for April 26-28 in Creswell, Oregon, at Emerald Valley Golf Club.
