LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – A program-record four UNLV men's golfers – Caden Fioroni, Trevor Lewis, Wyatt Plattner and Ben Sawaia – have been named 2023-24 Cobalt Golf NCAA Division I All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Thursday.

This topped the Rebels' previous record of three All-America Scholars in both 2020 and 2017. It also marks the seventh time in the last eight years that multiple UNLV student-athletes have earned the prestigious academic award.

Fioroni, a sociology major, and Sawaia, an urban studies major, are each second-time honorees. Lewis, a computer science major, and Plattner, who is also majoring in urban studies, made their debut on the list.


Additionally, the Rebel quartet received the Spring 2024 Academic All-Mountain West Team.

A total of 531 Division I student-athletes from 180 schools were named 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.

To be eligible, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
