Rebels Head North To Face Boise State, Utah State

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebels will hit the road for a pair of matches against Boise State (Oct. 23, 5 p.m. PT) followed by a trip to Logan where they will face Utah State (Oct. 25, 11 a.m. PT).

WHAT'S ON THE DOCKET
UNLV will return home next week in a rematch between Boise State and Utah State on Thursday, October 30 at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, November 1 at 12 pm, respectively.

LAST TIME OUT
UNLV went 2-0 at home last week, defeating New Mexico in five sets before defeating San Diego State in four sets. Against the Lobos, Jaida Harris paced the Rebels offensively with her career-high 27 kills that consisted of nine digs, three service aces, three blocks (two block assists, one solo) and one assist. Agata Makowska picked up her fourth double-double of the year behind a combination of a career-high 32 assists and a team tying-high 20 digs, which was also a career high. Fellow Rebel setter Kaia Thiele chipped in a career-best 28 assists and added four digs and a team tying-high three service aces. Rheanna Deen-Jackson also loomed large on both sides of the net for UNLV, throwing down a career-best 15 kills as well as having a part in three assisted blocks and four digs. Against the Aztecs, Harris powered the offense with her third 20+ kill match, and second straight, with a combination of 22 kills, four digs, two block assists and one service ace. Harris, who hit .360 for the match, also recorded 24 points in the match. Libero Caleigh King posted 16 digs to reach 854 and is now 10th on the all-time program list for career digs.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
>Boise State
: The Lobos are 5-3 in MW action as they defeated San Jose State at home in five sets last week before falling to Utah State in four sets. Against the Spartans, freshman outside hitter Sydney Dreves had a career-high 17 kills to lead four Broncos in double-figures. Arianna Bilby (14 kills), Eliza Sharp (13) and Layla Smith (10) joined Dreves with double-digit kills in the Broncos' fifth conference victory of the year. Lilli Etter had a double-double with 30 assists and 10 digs. Elle Cotton, meanwhile, had 28 assists and eight digs. Against the Aggies, Bilby led the Bronco attack with eight kills on 27 swings, three blocks, three digs and an ace. Boise State had 11 blocks in the match and it was its 12th match this year with 10 or more blocks. Bilby leads the team with 193 kills, while Miller tops the charts at 5.99 assists per set (443 total). On defense, Bre Mitchell (290 digs, 3.92/set) and Layla Smith (84 blocks, 1.33/set) lead the Broncos in their respective categories.
>Utah State: First-place Utah State is 8-0 in MW competition as they are coming into the fifth week of MW play with wins against Fresno State and Boise State. Against the Bulldogs, Kendel Thompson led USU from the service line with a career-high five aces, while Andrea Simovski led the Aggies with 11 kills while setting a new career-high with a .714 hitting percentage. Simovski also added a team-high six digs. Kaylie Kofe finished with 36 assists while engineering the offense to a program-record hitting percentage, also adding four digs. Against the Broncos, Loryn Helgesen led the Aggies with 17 kills on an even .500 hitting percentage, while Tierney Barlow led USU with a .525 hitting percentage while posting 14 kills. Mara Štiglic finished with 16 kills while hitting .333. The Aggies are now 8-0 to begin conference play for the first time since 1979 when the Aggies went an undefeated 10-0 in the IAC. Stiglic leads the team with 238 kills (3.55 kills/set), while Kofe tops the charts at 10.82 assists per set (714 total). On defense, Thompson (225 digs, 3.36/set) and Barlow (51 blocks) lead the Aggies in their respective categories.

2025 SCHEDULE
The UNLV volleyball program will play a total of 28 regular-season matches during the 2025 campaign, with 14 of those taking place inside the friendly confines of the Cox Pavilion. The fall slate, the third under head coach Malia Shoji, will feature 18 contests against Mountain West foes as well as 10 more versus nonconference competition.
