Easley Tourney Starts Sunday

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- The UNLV men's tennis team will host the annual Larry Easley Memorial Classic starting Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on campus.

UNLV is hosting singles and doubles players from two other programs – NAU and Utah State – through Tuesday. Action starts with a round of doubles at 9 a.m. each day and admission is free of charge. Three Rebels will be taking part this fall – Vitaliy Horovoy, Joel Gibson and Roberto Hernandez. Horovoy and Gibson will also play doubles.

The annual event was renamed in 2010 in honor of UNLV Hall of Famer Larry Easley, who passed away from illness in 2005 at the age of 57. Easley coached the UNLV men's tennis team longer than anyone in history and produced sometimes-spectacular results over his dozen seasons from 1993-2002, including producing five All-Americans and two NCAA individual champions.
