Rebels Host Lopes, Travel To San Diego

UNLV volleyball will host its first MW match this season Thursday, travels to San Diego Saturday.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The Rebels will return home to The Pavilion for its conference home opener against Grand Canyon on Thursday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. before hitting the road against San Diego State on Saturday, October 11 at 12 p.m.

WHAT'S ON THE DOCKET
The UNLV volleyball team will host two straight conference home matches beginning with New Mexico on Thursday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m., followed by San Diego State on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
UNLV went 1-1 on the road, defeating in-state rival UNR in four sets before falling to Air Force, also in four sets. Against the Wolf Pack, Basia Latos paced the Rebels with 12 kills and an impressive .476 clip on a season-high five block assists. Jadia Harris posted a match-high 14 kills with a .417 hitting percentage with a pair of digs, while Brooklynn Williams added nine kills, four block assists, two digs and two service aces. Libero Calaigh King chipped up a dozen digs, while Kaia Thiele recorded her third straight double-double of 26 assists and 11 digs. Against the Falcons, Harris recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs, while King recorded her 39th career double-digit dig match and ninth this season with 15 digs.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
>Grand Canyon
: The Lopes went 0-2 in MW action as they fell in five sets to Wyoming and four sets to Colorado State, both at home. Against the Cowgirls, senior outside hitter Anaelena Ramirez, who delivered 20 kills on .327 hitting with 12 digs and five blocks. Aubrey Goodere and Aubrey Bellus combined for 22 kills, with the former tallying 11 kills on .375 with seven blocks, while the latter added 11 kills on .320 hitting. Against the Rams, Bellus led the Lopes with 13 kills and eight blocks on a .296 hitting percentage. Anaelena Ramirez added seven kills and five blocks, while Taylor Kubacak distributed 22 assists and added 12 digs. Ramirez is leading the offense with 173 kills (3.09 kills/set), while Kubacak is averaging 5.13 assists/set (282). On defense, Bella Nunez has totaled 165 digs (3.00/set), while Hayden Goodman is at 50 blocks (1.51 blocks/set).
>San Diego State: SDSU is red-hot to start MW action as the first-place 4-0 Aztecs recently defeated Air Force and UNR on the road. Against the Falcons, Taylor Underwood surpassed the double-digit kill barrier for the 10th straight match with 18 put-aways to lead all players, while Amber Keen launched 12 non-returnables of her own and finished with a team-high eight block assists.Against the Wolf Pack, SDSU logged its second-highest hitting percentage of the season with a .345 efficiency while maintaining the statistical advantage in kills (50-37), digs (40-37) and team blocks (8.0 to 6.0) to complete its fourth sweep of the 2025 campaign. Underwood leads the team with 190 kills (3.58 kills/set), while Kendall Mairs tops the charts at 5.18 assists per set (311 total). On defense, Zara Stewart (218 digs, 3.63/set) and Amber Keen (61 blocks, 1.09/set) lead the Aztecs in their respective categories.

2025 SCHEDULE
The UNLV volleyball program will play a total of 28 regular-season matches during the 2025 campaign, with 14 of those taking place inside the friendly confines of the Cox Pavilion. The fall slate, the third under head coach Malia Shoji, will feature 18 contests against Mountain West foes as well as 10 more versus nonconference competition.
