SATURDAY'S PREVIEW
UNLV (9-2/5-2) will close out its regular-season by traveling north to face UNR (3-8/2-5) on Saturday night in the 51st Battle for the Fremont Cannon ... In addition to the famed cannon trophy, the winner of the game will earn three points in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union, an all-encompassing competition between the two schools ... UNLV has now received at least one vote in either the AP or Coaches' poll for the 32nd time in the last 33 polls ... The Rebels are 9-2 for a third straight season for the first time ever and a win Saturday would earn them double-digit victories for only the fourth time in school history and first time in back-to-back campaigns ... The Rebs have also earned bowl-eligibility for the third straight season for the first time ... UNLV is tied with BYU to lead all of college football with 10 road wins since the start of last season and is tied for the eighth-most overall wins in the FBS since the start of the 2024 season ... The Rebels are 14-4 in true road games since the start of 2023 after only winning eight total road games in the previous six seasons (8-25) ... Head coach Dan Mullen was the first UNLV coach to begin his career in Las Vegas 6-0 since the program's inaugural season of 1968 when original coach Bill Ireland started 8-0 on the Division II level ... UNLV ranks eighth nationally in third-down conversion defense, only allowing opponents to convert at a 30-percent clip ... Since falling 35-7 at eventual national champion Michigan in the second game of 2023, UNLV has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 33 regular-season games. That's the second-longest active such streak in the FBS, behind only Memphis (47 straight) ... The Rebels have also scored at least 30 points in a school-record 10 outings this fall, including the first nine.
REBELS vs. WOLF PACK NOTES...Â
UNR still holds a 28-22 lead in the series after UNLV won the last three, including the last one in Reno ... The Rebels look to win four straight vs. the Wolf Pack for only the third time (1974-77 and 2000-04) ... The 50 meetings, which include 36 straight years in a rivalry that permanently became an annual event in 1989, are by far the most UNLV has had with any opponent ... This marks the 15th meeting between the Rebs and Pack to end a regular-season.
