UNLV men's basketball looks to bounce back against the Mocs in 6 p.m. contest; Fans 21+ will be able to celebrate Runnin' Rebel Happy Hour.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team will host Chattanooga on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Runnin' Rebels (0-1) are looking to bounce back after dropping their season opener on Tuesday to UT Martin, 86-81. Three UNLV players scored in double figures in that game, led by Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn's 18 points. Kimani Hamilton had 13 before fouling out, while Al Green added 12. Tyrin Jones had a game-high nine rebounds, and Jacob Bannarbie pulled down eight.

The Runnin' Rebels are in their first year under head coach Josh Pastner. Although new to UNLV, Pastner is in his 15th year as a collegiate head coach, having previously led Memphis and Georgia Tech for seven seasons each. He holds a career record of 276-188 (.595).

UNLV's roster has only one returning player, Jacob Bannarbie, and has welcomed 13 new faces. The newcomers include eight Division I transfers, a former international professional, a junior college transfer, and three freshmen.

The Runnin' Rebels also played two exhibition games in October, one at Washington and the other at home vs. Lincoln University (California). Because of injuries, UNLV played with just seven healthy scholarship players against the Huskies, eight vs. the Oaklanders, and nine against the Skyhawks.

MORE ABOUT THE ROSTER: This season's UNLV squad returned just one player from 2024-25: redshirt sophomore forward Jacob Bannarbie. The 2025-26 roster added 13 newcomers - eight Division I transfers, a former international professional, a junior college transfer, and three freshmen. The team features four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, and three freshmen, with a position breakdown of seven guards, six forwards, and a center. Last season, Bannarbie appeared in 19 games (three starts), averaging 1.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes, and shooting 52.9% from the field on 17 attempts.

ABOUT CHATTANOOGA: The Mocs (1-0) won their season opener on Monday at home against Union Commonwealth, 92-39. They will play at Saint Mary's on Friday, Nov. 7, before traveling to Las Vegas for the game against the Runnin' Rebels the next day. Chattanooga is coming off winning the NIT Championship last season. Head coach Dan Earl is in his fourth season at the school with a record of 69-38 (.642) and is in his 11th overall as a collegiate head coach with a mark of 142-177 (.443). Chattanooga owns the nation's longest Division I win streak at six games. This year's team has nine newcomers, including six transfers and three high school signees. UTC lost 78.8% of its points, 78.1% of its minutes played, 71.1% of its rebounding, 78.6% of its assists, 77.5% of its made field goals, and 84.4% of its 3-pointers made from last year's team, which also won the Southern Conference regular-season championship.
