Roland Picks Up MW Freshman Of The Week

Roland led the Lady Rebels with a career-high 17 points over UNR

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV's Meadow Roland picked up Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced today.

The 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman came off the bench and led the Lady Rebels with nine rebounds and a career-high 17 points in the 68-59 win over in-state rival UNR. Roland scored seven points in just the first 10 minutes of play, not having missed a shot. In the first quarter, she was perfect on every shot including sinking a three-pointer to give the Scarlet & Gray a 13-12 lead at 2:51. After the half, Roland put up eight more points and again did not miss a shot in the third quarter going 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 at the free throw line. In the Lady Rebel's 14-2 run in the third, Roland had four of the points, including the layup that put UNLV ahead by double-figures, 52-41. Roland's nine rebounds included three offensive boards and six defensive boards. On each of her offensive rebounds, Roland and the Lady Rebels capitalized to get second chance points.

This marks the second weekly nod of Roland's career and the third weekly honor for the Lady Rebels this season.

UNLV will be on the road for the next contest visiting Utah State in the squad's lone meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. PT/6 p.m. MT.
