LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team hits the road for the first time this season with a trip to the Golden State for the Santa Clara Mission Classic this weekend. The Rebels will travel for the three-day, five-match tournament that also includes the California Baptist Lancers, the Long Beach State Dirtbags and the host Santa Clara Broncos.
The Scarlet & Gray will play in two matches, once Friday and once Saturday. UNLV will play the second and fifth match of the tournament against California Baptist and Santa Clara, respectively. UNLV and CBU will play on Friday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. PT and will close out their participation in the tournament at 3 pm PT on Saturday against Santa Clara.

WHAT'S ON THE DOCKET
The UNLV volleyball team will return on the road for the Asics Invitational where they will face UC Irvine (Sept. 11), Montana State (Sept. 12) and Oregon State (Sept. 13). The Beavers will be hosting the Asics Invitational with all three matches available to watch on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
UNLV volleyball hosted the annual Rebel Challenge where they went 1-2 overall, defeating CSU Bakersfield in straight sets. Jada Ingram was named to the All-Tournament team where the sophomore outside hitter totaled 23 kills in three matches, averaging 2.56 kills per set. Ingram also recorded a .333 hitting percentage, tacked on 27 points and 3.00 points per set. The Topeka, Kansas native posted a career-high 15 kills against Utah Tech and registered four total blocks against Iowa. Jaida Harris came through in a sweep of CSU Bakersfield where the redshirt sophomore outside hitter tallied 15 kills on a .464 clip with three service aces and one dig.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
>California Baptist: The Lancers opened its regular season by going 1-2 at The Ridge Invitational, defeating Idaho State in five sets, but lost to Pacific and CSUN in four sets. In the win against the Bengals, Maddie Brown delivered a career-high 44 assists and 12 digs, while Emery DeJong led the attack with 17 kills and added two blocks. This marked Coach Trevor Johnson's first Division I win at CBU. Overall, CBU tallied 123 kills in the opening weekend and an impressive 19 service aces. Individually, Gianna Perez leads the defense with 38 digs, while Filippa Botcher has collected 16 total blocks (14 block assists, two solo blocks). The Lancers were picked to finish fourth in the WAC preseason poll, and graduate right side Eliana Posada earned a spot on the all-conference list.
>Santa Clara:The Broncos fell to Notre Dame and Villanova in the season-opening Catholic Challenge hosted by the Fighting Irish. Against Notre Dame, Macy Hinshaw recorded a career-high 40 assists, adding 19 digs for her third career double-double. Cate Shanahan had a career high and team-leading 13 kills, while Lexi Trapani tied her career high with 22 digs. Santa Clara returns four starters from a season ago ,as well as 11 letterwinners. Grace Flanagan was named to the 2025 Preseason All-WCC team after recording All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition last season.
2025 SCHEDULE
The UNLV volleyball program will play a total of 28 regular-season matches during the 2025 campaign, with 14 of those taking place inside the friendly confines of the Cox Pavilion. The fall slate, the third under head coach Malia Shoji, will feature 18 contests against Mountain West foes as well as 10 more versus nonconference competition.
