Meadow Roland has been named Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league announced today. This marks the second week in a row a Lady Rebel has picked up the honor and marks the seventh weekly accolade this season.
The 6-foot-2 redshirt sophomore led the Lady Rebels to a 1-1 week averaging a double-double of 28.5 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game against Wyoming and Grand Canyon. The Fresno, California native shot a combined .444 (20-for-45) from the field, .875 (14-for-16) from the charity stripe and drained three three-pointers against. In the midweek contest against Wyoming, Roland drained a career-high 30 points shooting .435 (10-for-23) from the field, sank two three-pointers and shot 88.9 (8-for-9) from the free throw line. Roland brought down 12 rebounds against the Cowgirls, had one blocked shot and a steal. She also tied her career-high in assists with five against Wyoming. Her hot shooting continued as she led the Lady Rebels to a 74-65 victory over Grand Canyon with 27 points. Roland brought down 15 rebounds against the Lopes, which is one shy of her career-high in boards. She now has a league-leading 10 double-doubles on the season.
The Lady Rebels are hitting the road for the next Mountain West contest visiting San Diego State on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
