LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Three Rebels shot under par to land in the top 20 as UNLV men's golf completed Sunday's opening round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate at Southern Highlands Golf Club (Par 72, 7,510 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Leading the Rebels' first-round scorecard, junior
Zach Little sits in a tie for seventh at 3-under 69 and senior
Trevor Lewis stands in a tie for 20th at 1-under 71. Competing as an individual, freshman Aaron van Hauwe matched Little's 3-under 69 as each of them put together a bogey-free scorecard on the course's front nine.

Wyatt Plattner (+4), junior
Ryan Abuan (+4) and junior
Mason Snyder (+4) are all tied for 62nd. The remaining Rebels playing solely as individuals include senior
Billy Smith (+1) in a tie for 32nd, senior
Brett Sawaia (+7) in 77th and freshman
Nico Bencomo (+13) in 84th.
DAY-ONE LEADERS: Virginia grabbed the day-one lead at 11-under for a five-shot advantage over Auburn (-6) in second. Taking the individual lead into the second round, the Cavaliers' Paul Chang finished with a first-round 6-under 66 to pull one shot ahead of San Diego State's Harry Takis (-5) and the Tigers' Jackson Koivun (-5) in a tie for second.
The Rebels (+4) will look to make a move from their tied-for-ninth position on the second day of competition.
