UNLV Softball Host San Diego State For Three-Game MW Series

UNLV and SDSU will open the three-game series on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m. PT at Eller Media Stadium

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team continues the homestand and hosts San Diego State for the next Mountain West three-game series on Friday, March 20 - Sunday, March 22. The Rebels and Aztecs open up the weekend on Friday, March 20 at 6 p.m.

Saturday, March 21 - San Diego State at UNLV at 3:00 p.m. PT

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE: San Diego State heads into the second weekend of MW play with an 17-11 overall record and are 2-1 in league play. The Aztecs won the opening MW series 2-1 against Colorado State at SDSU Softball Stadium. San Diego State is led by Jade Igancio who is batting a .441 (41-for-93). Igancio is also second on the squad in RBI with 22. She is the team leader in doubles with nine and tied second in home runs with three. Jazmin WIlliams leads the Aztecs in slugging percentage with a .696 to go with a team-high six homers and 23 RBI. In the circle for the Aztecs, Key-annah Pu'a leads the staff with a 2.43 ERA through her 17 appearances. Pu'a holds a 4-3 overall record and one save through 57.2 innings pitched. Faith Jordan leads the pitching staff in appearances with 18, throwing one complete game and a shutout. Jordan additionally has one save for the staff and a 2.72 ERA through 54.0 innings pitched. Jordan has a 7-3 overall record on the year.

SERIES PROMOTIONS: Fans in attendance will receive a 2026 UNLV softball schedule poster all weekend. Be sure to arrive early to snag a UNLV softball t-shirt! Additionally, on Friday Smoken Sam's concessions will have $5 select beers and on Saturday they will have $3 hot dogs. Following each game, fans in attendance have the opportunity to get autographs from their favorite Rebels.
 
TICKETS: Tickets are on sale now for the 2026 UNLV softball season. Season tickets are $50 for adults, $40 for seniors, faculty and staff, and alumni. Single-game tickets are $6 in advance and at the game $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, faculty and staff.Kids under 12, Nevada High School students with their high school ID, UNLV students are free at all home contests
 
LAST TIME ON THE FIELD:  The UNLV softball team earned an 11-3 run-rule victory in five innings over Utah Tech in a midweek contest on Tuesday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium. Head Coach Kristie Fox collected her 250th win at the helm of the Rebels. Diamond Sefe and Bri Williams' bats remained hot at the plate as they led the Rebels offense each with three hits against the Trailblazer. Sefe nearly hit the cycle today going 3-for-3 which included two home runs and a double. She additionally had a team-high three RBI and was tied for the team-high in runs with three. Williams was 3-for-4 on the day with a double, an RBI and scored two runs. Williams collected the walk-off RBI in the bottom of the fifth to secure the victory. Yanina Sherwood collected the win in relief for her fifth of the season.
 
NEXT SERIES: UNLV will be back on the road for the next MW series visiting Fresno State on Friday, March 27 - Sunday, March 29. The Rebels and Bulldogs will open the series on Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
 
REBELS' SQUAD: UNLV returns 10 letterwinners, including three position starters and two pitchers. All-Mountain West honorable mention Yanina Sherwood returns along with Charelle Aki, Gwyn Burnett, Mantha Hatzenbeller, Brooke Pisciotta, Maddie Scott, Diamond Sefe, Maggie Vasa, Amelia Weber and Bri Williams. The Rebels welcome 13 newcomers to the squad which include: freshmen Taryn Calderon, Lauren Fettic, Hailey Gilbertson, Lyla Gonzalez, Brooklyn Heil and Sophie Stockam; sophomores: Presley Barnes, Raegen Everett and Camryn Johnson; juniors: Rachel Cook and Emma Wardlaw; senior Keyannah Chavez and graduate student Natalie Turner.
 
UNLV brings back Charelle Aki, Bri Williams and Maddie Scott who were among the top seven hitters from last season. Aki batted a .311 with five doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI. Williams posted a .262 batting average with three doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI. Scott played all 49 games and started 43 and batted a .223 with five doubles, team-high three triples and 10 RBI.
 
LAST YEAR: The Rebels had an overall record of 24-25 and a 7-15 Mountain West record. Four Rebels collected All-Mountain West honors. Ariana Martinez picked up All-MW first team, Jesse Farrell was named All-MW second team and Karmyna Becerra and Yanina Sherwood earned All-MW honorable mention.
