LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team stayed perfect in Mountain West play with a 4-0 win over Colorado State while enduring record-high temps Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Playing on the hottest March day in recorded history, the Rebels took just under two hours to win their seventh consecutive match and improve to 10-2 and 3-0 in the MW while the Rams fell to 4-10 and 0-3 in the league.
UNLV made quick work of the visitors in doubles play.
Veronika Kliuch and
Eszter Kis-Czako downed Leyla Tozin and Diana Lizarazo, 6-1, at No. 2 before
Hudson Hawkins and
Nikol Mircheva defeated Sorcha Caves and Annika Planinsek, 6-2, at the top spot to secure the point.
In singles play, Kliuch rolled past Caves, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1; Hawkins downed Tozin, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 3; and Kis-Czako ended things with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Logan Voeks on court four.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Veronika Kliuch is on a roll. After teaming up for a quick doubles win her straight-set triumph at the top of the singles lineup improved the sophomore to 19-2 overall, including 12-0 in dual matches this season.
UP NEXT: UNLV hosts Wyoming on Sunday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. PT. Admission to all matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
