LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's tennis team posted its fifth 7-0 shutout of the young season, this time vs. NAU on a windy Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
 
The Rebels improved to 6-2 with their third straight win while the Lumberjacks fell to 2-4.
 
UNLV remained undefeated in doubles by taking the first two completed matches. Hudson Hawkins and Nikol Mircheva downed Natalie Rainke and Elen Jantacova, 6-1, at the top spot while Kaho Oyama and Sofiia Sokolvak won by the same score over Mia Wolter and Leontina Stojanovic at No. 3.
 
In singles play, UNLV was granted another point with a default on court six and then Oyama was off the court in a flash, downing Wolter, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 to make it 3-0. Eszter Kis-Czako got by Jantacova, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 4; Mircheva fought off Andrea Noguera, 6-2, 7-6, at No. 2; Hawkins rallied after dropping the first set to win over Rainke, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2; and Veronika Kliuch improved to 15-2 overall and 8-0 in duals with a tough victory over Patryca Niewiadomska, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, at the top of the lineup.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Kaho Oyama was ultra-efficient, winning her doubles match 6-1 and only losing one game in singles to improve to 5-2 in duals.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV closes out the weekend by hosting New Mexico State on Sunday starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all matches at Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
