KANSAS CITY, Mo. (UNLVRebels.com) — The UNLV men's soccer team (1-1-0) fell 1-0 to No. 19/25 Kansas City (2-0-0) in its first road match of the season Tuesday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium.
After the Roos' 54th-minute goal, sophomore forward
Maxim Scordo and senior midfielder
Mikah Madrid gave the Rebels a pair of shots on goal each ended up being saved by Kansas City.
QUOTABLE: "You are always disappointed with the score when it is not in your favor, but I am pleased with the progress and growth of this group and the never give in attitude of this team. We controlled the game and tempo with our pressure for large parts and we need to be better taking care of the ball in big games to progress our attack. That is never easy on the road against a ranked team, but it is a game of small margins and we have to learn to tip those in our favor which I know this team will do. We saw that in the last few minutes when Claudio Lopez nearly tied it up with his shot just over the bar."
- UNLV Head Coach BJ Craig
UP NEXT: UNLV will return to the West Coast for a 7 p.m. road game Saturday at CSU Bakersfield.
