Volleyball Defeated By No. 10 BYU

PROVO, Utah - Caroline Bower had 8 kills and a match-high 9 digs as No. 10 Brigham Young defeated UNLV 15-7, 15-7, 15-5, in a Mountain West Conference volleyball match at Smith Fieldhouse Friday.

BYU (11-2, 3-0 MWC) was assisted in the win by Nina Puikkonen's 7 kills, while Anna-Lena Smith had 6 digs. Smith also led all players with 29 assists.

Justine Kamelamela led UNLV (8-5, 0-2 MWC) with 8 kills. Amber Graham added 6 kills for the Rebels, while Jeanette Graves and Ana Ramos each turned in a team-high 5 digs.

BYU out-hit the Rebels .227 to -.034 for the match, had 41 kills to UNLV's 24 and recorded five more digs (30-25).

UNLV's next action will be Saturday, Oct. 9, as it travels up the road to face Utah in Salt Lake City. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. MT.
