HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The fourth-ranked UNLV golf team made up six shots on the field during Saturday's second-round at the 18-team GolfWorld/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C., and now leads the tournament.
The Rebels, playing on the par-72, 6,651-yard Arthur Hills at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course, shot a second-round total of eight-under-par 280 and sit in first place at eight-under 568 after 36 holes. Georgia is second at four-under 572, Georgia Tech is third at two-under 574, South Carolina is fourth at one-under 575, while Houston rounds out the top five at two-over 578.
Individually, UNLV is led by senior Charley Hoffman, who shot a second-round five-under 67 and is one shot off the lead in second place with a two-round total of seven-under 137. Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder is the individual leader at eight-under 136.
Other Rebels competing are junior Michael Kirk who is tied for 14th at even-par 144, junior Jeremy Anderson and senior Chris Berry, who are both tied for 24th at one-over 145, and sophomore Scott Lander who is tied for 39th at four-over 148.
Play at the 54-hole tournament concludes Sunday.
