LAS VEGAS - Jeanette Graves, Angie Sylvas and Amber Graham each recorded 10 kills as the UNLV volleyball team defeated New Orleans 15-8, 15-5, 15-6, in the second match of the UNLV Invitational at Lied Gymnasium Friday.
With the win, UNLV improved on its best-ever start to a season.
Justine Kamelamela had a team-high 9 digs for UNLV (7-0), while Robyn Shea and Julia Goes recorded 21 and 14 assists, respectively. UNLV out-hit New Orleans .391 to .063 for the match and recorded 47 kills to the Privateers' 28. UNLV also had 12 more digs (36-28) than UNO.
New Orleans (4-4) was led by Jessica Perdue's match-high 11 kills. Christy Levy added a match-high 12 digs.
In the invitational's first match, No. 19 Southern California (4-2) defeated Oral Roberts (6-4) 15-13, 15-13, 15-5.
The invitational will conclude on Saturday with USC facing UNLV in the championship match at 4:00 p.m., while Oral Roberts will battle New Orleans for the consolation championship prior to that at 1:00 p.m.
