LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team fell to William & Mary 3-1 (30-28, 30-25, 25-30, 30-15) in the Planet Hollywood Thanksgiving Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center on Friday night.
Leiana Oswald led the Rebels with 18 kills and 11 digs, followed by Michelle Johnson who finished with 14 kills.
Nicki King turned in a double-double-performance at the setter position with 47 assists and 10 digs.
Blair Wilkes added 11 kills in the losing effort. Shante Anderson finished with seven kills and nine digs.
William & Mary was led by Tara Tobias and Stacy Woodson, who put up 20 and 19 kills respectively.
Tobias also finished with 22 digs for a double-digit double-double.
The Tribe's Christina Hinds also had a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs.
UNLV plays Rice at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Thomas & Mack Center. William & Mary will meet Washington State in the tournament's championship game at 5 p.m.
Washington State defeated Rice 3-0 (30-17, 34-32, 30-16) in the opening match of the tournament. Chelsie Schafer led Washington State with 17 kills and 10 digs. Kortney Jamtaas led the defensive effort with 16 digs. The Cougars' Melissa Boyle and LaToya Harris finished with six block assists each.
The Rice Owls were led by Rebeca Pazo, who also turned in a double-double performance with 16 kills and 10 digs. Leigh Leman added 10 kills, while Rebekah Neal led the team defensively with 14 digs.
