2002 Schedule
LAS VEGAS - The UNLV softball team will play 13 dates at its new home, Eller Media Stadium, head coach Shan McDonald announced on Tuesday in the release of the team's 2002 schedule.
In addition to the grand opening, set for January 26 against the program's alumni, the Rebels will play in the new stadium on 13 dates this spring and will host the three-day UNLV Classic at Desert Breeze Complex in mid-February.
Set to visit the school's newest playing facility in 2002 are Oregon, Pacific, Boston College, Notre Dame, DePaul and UC Riverside along with traditional Mountain West rivals Utah, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico and San Diego State.
In all, the Rebels host three tourneys on the year. Along with the UNLV Classic, UNLV will hold two three-team mini tournaments at the new park and will hit the road for challenging events like the Fiesta Bowl Classic in Tempe, Ariz., the Utah Red Desert Classic in St. George, Utah, and the Capital Classic in Sacramento, Calif.
For the first time ever, the schedule includes a broadcast package, with two tape-delayed television appearances and four games produced on radio. Caples Production will show the Rebels' Feb. 24 game against DePaul and the March 10 contest vs. Notre Dame on tape delay on Las Vegas' UPN affiliate KTUD.
The Notre Dame will also be carried on KSHP AM 1400 in Las Vegas, along with home conference contests against San Diego State, New Mexico and Colorado State.
Season and single-game tickets for all home games are available by calling 895-UNLV. Single-game tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, and a season ticket costs only $35. As a special offer, UNLV will sell season tickets at a 2-for-1 rate only at the Eller Media Stadium Grand Opening on January 26.
