Volleyball Signs Second Recruit

April 12, 2001

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball program has signed Rosie Lewis to a national letter of intent for the 2001 season as announced by UNLV head coach Deitre Collins on Thursday. Lewis is a 5-10 Outside Hitter from Chandler High School in Chandler, Ariz.

Lewis played only one season at Chandler High School where she participated in the state 5A regional playoffs. She had a season-high ten kills and ten digs against Gilbert High School last season.

Lewis also ran track at Eloy Santa Cruz High School in 2000 where she had a best time of 12.14 in the 100 meter dash.

"Rosie is an athletic player, but young in the sport," said Collins. "We look for her to come in this year to just learn and expect a lot from her in the future."

Lewis joins Nikki King as part of the 2001 signing class. King is a 5-9 setter from Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ariz.
