LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team avenged a 3-0 loss in Laramie with a 3-0 victory at home on Friday night at the Cox Pavilion. The Rebels, out-hit the Cowgirls .224 to .102 in the match.
With the win, the Rebels improve to 8-16 on the season, 4-7 in the Mountain West Conference, The Cowgirls fall to 18-8, 3-7 in league play.
Patricia Assuncao led the Rebels with eight kills and eight digs. Leiana Oswald and Blair Wilkes finished with seven kills each. Oswald added six digs, while Wilkes knocked down four blocks.
Nicki King and Adriana Franco shared time at the setter spot with King tallying 16 assists and four digs and Franco posting 15 assists and a pair of service aces.
Sarah Fachner added six kills, hitting .667 (6-0-9) for the match.
The Rebels travel to Northern Arizona for a 6 p.m. match on Nov. 5 before returning home to host San Diego State next Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Cox Pavilion.
