Box Score

LAS VEGAS - Bridget Byrne hit a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh to score Carrie Bayless from second and give the Rebels' a 3-2 victory over Boston College in the final game of the Rebels' tournament at Eller Media Stadium on Friday.

Tied at two since the fourth inning, the Rebels' were finally able to score the go-ahead run in the seventh. With one-out, Bayless beat an infield single and advanced to second on Lisa Moses' single. With both runners aboard, Byrne drove a pitch through the middle infield, and Bayless wheeled around from second to beat the outfield throw to the plate.

Not lost in the last-minute heroics was an outstanding pitching effort from senior Nicole Truax. She picked up her third victory on the year by holding the Eagles (3-14) to just four hits and striking out a season-best nine batters.

The Rebels (11-14) took an early lead on Geney Orris' two-run homer in the first, her sixth of the year. The 2-0 lead held up until the top of the fourth when BC's Michelle Daly singled to even the score.

Play in the Rebels' home tournament will continue on Saturday when Boston College and Oregon square off at 3:00 p.m. The Rebels will then host the Eagles in a rematch of Friday's nightcap at 5:30 p.m.
