LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Women's Sports Foundation will present the second annual Las Vegas Soccer Spectacular featuring an exciting exhibition match between the WUSA's Boston Breakers and San Jose CyberRays on Saturday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.
The exhibition game will be held at UNLV's Peter Johann Memorial Field and offer the Las Vegas community an opportunity to see some of the best female soccer players in the world compete in a tune-up match for the opening of the WUSA's third full season on April 5.
Expected to participate in the exhibition game are stars from the Norwegian, Mexican, Brazilian, German and Canadian National Teams as well as current or former members of the U.S. National Team which include Brandi Chastain, Kristin Lilly, Kate Sobrero, Tisha Venturini-Hoch, LaKeysia Beene, Thori Bryan, Angela Hucles, Michelle French and Jena Kluegel.
Joining the U.S. stars will be international standouts Sissi, Katia and Pretinha from Brazil along with Dagny Mellgren and Raghild Gulbrandsen from Norway. All are gearing up for the FIFA Women's World Cup to be held on Sept. 24 through Oct. 11 in China.
As a part of Las Vegas College Showcase weekend, games are scheduled to allow for all Showcase participants to attend the match. Special discount "Showcase participant" tickets for the game can be purchased as a part of team registration (see registration application).
Tickets are available online at www.unlvtickets.com. All proceeds to benefit the UNLV women's soccer program.
The Rebels will also play an exhibition match versus the WUSA's Boston Breakers on March 24 at Peter Johann Memorial Field. The start time is tentatively set for 3 p.m.
