WAHIAWA, Hawai'i - UNLV junior golfer Ryan Moore carded a 65 on Thursday, leading the Rebels in a charge up the leaderboard after the second round of play at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
Moore, who shot 70 in his opening round, was seven-under par at the par-72, 6,917-yard Leilehua Golf Course. He climbed into third place individually and is just three strokes behind the leader, New Mexico's Spencer Levin.
As a team, UNLV moved from fourth place to second place and trails New Mexico by a single stroke. The Rebels followed their eight-under-par opening round with a 12-under 276 on Thursday.
Moore was not the only Rebel to go low. Ryan Keeney carded a 68, and at four-under par for the tournament, he is in 14th place.
Travis Whisman, who shot 69 in the opener, scored a 70 and is tied for 11th at five-under par.
JC Deacon matched his first round 73 on Thursday and is tied for 60th place at two-over par.
Andres Gonzales mixed a 76 in with his opening 69 and slipped to 55th place overall.
Final-round play will begin at 7:30 a.m. HST.
