SUNRIVER, Ore. - UNLV junior golfer Ryan Moore shot a final-round 67 to come from behind and win the Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday.
Moore, of Puyallup, Wash., shot 10-under par for the tournament and defeated both Colorado State's Nolan Martin and San Diego State's Mark Warman by three strokes.
The win is the second of the year and third of Moore's career, and cemented the league's Player of the Year Award for him. The nation's second-ranked player has finished worse than fifth only once since last October.
On the strength of Moore's play, the Rebels climbed from fifth to third on the final team leaderboard. New Mexico defeated BYU in a one-hole playoff as both teams finished six strokes ahead of the Rebels.
The Rebels shot a one-under 287 as a team, combining Moore's 67, a 71 from freshman Sam Hunt, a 74 from Ryan Keeney and a 75 from Andres Gonzales. Travis Whisman shot a 77, discarded from the team score.
Whisman joined Moore on the All-MWC team, announced after the tourney.
The Rebels await a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Regional, which will be announced Monday.
