Las Vegas - Hitting woes plagued the UNLV women's volleyball team, as the Rebels committed 38 errors and hit just .122 in a four game loss to Cal State Northridge at the Northridge Tournament in Northridge, Calif. The Rebels dropped to 2-3 on the season with the loss while CSN improved to 2-3.
UNLV won the opening game 30-18 and the other three matches in the game were close, 17-30, 27-30 and 29-31. The difference in the game was when UNLV attacked, as too many hits resulted in errors.
In the first game, UNLV hit .342 as a team with just four attacking errors and the result was the 12 point win. After that strong first game, the Rebels' offense started misfiring. The Rebels hit .000 and .043 and .113 in the next three games and committed 34 hitting errors the rest of the night. CSN on the other hand, attacked with efficiency, committing only 20 attacking errors on the night.
Brittani Lumsden led the Rebels with 16 kills but also had 10 errors. Lauren Miramontes had 13 kills and 10 errors as well. Nicki King contributed 38 assists on the night.
Jen Ryan's 12 kills paced the Matadors, while Kelly Zabielski added 12.
