LAS VEGAS - The No. 7 UNLV men's golf team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., to compete at the 2006 National Invitational Tournament, which starts Sunday, March 26 and runs through Tuesday, March 28, at Omni Tucson National Golf Club. Nine of the 14 teams in the field are nationally ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of America's poll.

The National Invitational Tournament is a 54-hole event on the par 72, 7,094-yard layout. Eighteen holes will be played each day, with action scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. MST on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday's final round starting at 7 a.m. MST.

Nine teams in the field are currently ranked in GCAA poll. The following teams are scheduled to compete (ranking): Arizona State (8), Arkansas, Fresno State, Kent State, Minnesota (T25), New Mexico (T25), Pepperdine (20), Texas Christian, Tulsa (15), UCLA (5), UNLV (7), USC (22), Washington (24) and host Arizona.

Live tournament scoring will also be available through a link at UNLVRebels.com and also at golfstat.com.

Competing for UNLV will be senior Andres Gonzales, sophomores C.J. Gatto, Matt Kinsinger and Jarred Texter and freshman Seung-Su Han.

In its last outing, UNLV won the team title at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship in Las Vegas with Kinsinger winning the individual title playing separate from the UNLV squad as an individual.

In last year's National Invitational Tournament, TCU won the team title at 26-under par, while Arkansas' Matt Bortis captured medalist honors at 12-under. UNLV tied for third at last year's event at 21-under, while its best individual finisher was Ryan Moore, who tied for fifth at 2-over.
