Rebels Move Up One Spot In Coaches Poll

March 30, 2006

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team moved up one spot to No. 6 in the nation as the latest edition of the Golf Coaches Association of America/Bridgestone Coaches Poll was released by the GCAA on Thursday.

Georgia continued its run atop the poll, where it has been ranked since the final poll of last season. The Bulldogs claimed 13 first-place votes. There was very little change in the top 10, with the top five spots remaining unchanged.

Oklahoma State, Florida, Georgia Tech and UCLA filled slots two through five. The Cowboys received four first-place votes while the Bruins earned one. UNLV and BYU flipped positions, with the Rebels climbing to sixth and the Cougars dropping to seventh. Arizona State and Georgia State stayed at eighth and ninth, respectively, while East Tennessee State moved up three spots to No. 10.

UNLV, which finished tied for ninth in its last outing at the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz., will be back in action April 8-9 at the ASU/Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
