LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team was ranked 12th in the nation in the season's first Golf Coaches Association of America/Bridgestone Coaches Poll, which was released this week by the GCAA.
Georgia earned the top ranking in the poll, followed by defending national champion Oklahoma State. OSU was second despite earning 13 of the 18 first-place votes to Georgia's two.
Georgia Tech came in at third, while ACC foe Clemson was fourth. Florida collected one first-place vote and was followed by UCLA and Alabama, which had the final two first-place ballots. USC, Arizona State and BYU rounded out the top 10.
Wake Forest was No. 11 followed by UNLV, Duke, Texas A&M and Minnesota. North Carolina, Kentucky, Stanford, Georgia State and East Tennessee State filled spots 16-20, while Coastal Carolina, TCU, Washington, Lamar and Arizona completed the top 25.
The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the GCAA.
UNLV, which has finished sixth in both tournaments it has competed in this season, will travel to Williamsburg, Va., to play in the PING Preview, Oct. 2-4.
