LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's golf team had four student-athletes earn Spring 2007 Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors, the conference announced this week. Additionally, the team had three named MWC Scholar-Athletes.
Junior C.J. Gatto (3.38 in journalism & media studies), freshman Brett Kanda (3.02 in journalism & media studies), senior Ryan Keeney (3.11 in journalism & media studies) and junior Jarred Texter (3.39 in journalism & media studies) were all named to the Academic All-MWC team.
Senior Sam Hunt (3.55 in kinesiological science), junior Matt Kinsinger (3.82 in finance) and Johnny Pinjuv (3.96 in marketing) were named MWC Scholar-Athletes.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MWC team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the school while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their team. To be eligible for selection as a MWC Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
