Recap | Final Stats
-UNLV's 27-20 victory doubled the Rebels' win total from a year ago at 4-6 and meant the program reached at least four wins for the first time since going 6-6 in 2003. UNLV also got a third home victory for the first time since finishing 3-3 at Sam Boyd Stadium in 2002.
-When redshirt freshman Mike Clausen took the first snap, it marked only the eighth time in program history that a freshman started at QB for the Rebels but the third time in the last two seasons (Travis Dixon and Omar Clayton in 2007).
-Clausen's 10-yard touchdown on a fade to Rodelin Anthony at the end of the second quarter was the first scoring pass of his young career. He added another one later in the game on a four-yard pass to Frank Summers.
-PK Ben Jaekle's 52-yard field goal in the first-quarter marked the team's first attempt since the Air Force game, a span of 10 quarters -- and the first made field goal in 19 quarters (second quarter vs.UNR). It marked the second 52-yard field goal made this season by the sophomore from Las Vegas and tied for sixth-longest in school history.
-Senior WR Casey Flair's two grabs extended his school-record streak for games with a catch to 45 (every game of his career), which ranks second in the nation behind only Jarett Dillard of Rice, who now is at 46.
-Junior WR Ryan Wolfe's seven catches moved him past Damon Williams (1995-98) into second place on the UNLV career receptions list with 191. He is just four behind teammate Casey Flair, the school's current catch king with 195.
-Wolfe notched his ninth career 100-yard receiving game (100 even), which is the most in school history. The junior had come in tied with three other Rebels with eight. Wolfe also moved into third place on the school's all-time receiving yards list with 2,538 yards. He needs just 20 yards to catch Damon Williams in second and 66 to tie all-time leader Earvin Johnson (2,604).
-Freshman Deante Purvis' 55-yard kickoff return in the second quarter was the longest by a Rebel since Dominique Dorsey took one back 59 yards in 2004.
-UNLV's Quinton Pointer picked up his third career interception in the second quarter, which marked the first pick by UNLV in 28 quarters of play (first since the second quarter at Arizona State on Sept. 13).
-Although he was unable to get it into the end zone, Pointer returned the pick 77 yards, which was the longest for the Rebels since a 79-yarder by Joe Miklos vs. UNR in 2004.
-UNLV senior RB Frank Summers scored his ninth touchdown (seven rushing and two receiving) of the season in the third quarter to give his team its first lead of the night. The "Tank" now has 19 career scores in 22 games as a Rebel.
-Deante Purvis blocked a UNM punt attempt that was returned for a touchdown, marking the first time the Rebels scored on a blocked punt since Chris Brogdon did it vs. Wyoming in 2006. WR Rodelin Anthony returned the blocked ball 11 yards into the end zone for his second TD of the game.
-When Ryan Tillman brought in the game-sealing pick in the fourth quarter, UNLV had a season-high two interceptions and won the turnover battle 2-1 to get even on the year with 10 given and 10 forced.
-Junior LB Jason Beauchamp had a game-high 16 tackles to mark his sixth consecutive game reaching double figures.
-UNLV went 3-3 in the red zone vs. the Lobos to improve to 30-32 on the year, including 26 red-zone touchdowns. Last season the Rebels only scored TDs 15 times inside the 20.
