LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Rebels (4-11 overall, 2-5 Mountain West) dropped a 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 21-25) contest in Fort Worth, Texas to the TCU Horned Frogs (17-5, 6-2) this evening at the University Rec. Center. The Rebels were paced by a 10-kill effort by Kelsey Keeler.
The Horned Frogs out-hit the Rebels by a .219 to .077 margin, as they racked up 10 more kills (41-to-31), as well. TCU tallied six less errors (22-to-16) in three less swings (114-to-117). TCU hit no less than .150 (third set) in any set, while topping out at .333 in the first. UNLV, on the other hand, hit .125 (third set) or less in all three frames.
Keeler led the Rebels with a 10-kill effort on .133 hitting. She fell one dig shy of amassing her first double-double on the year with nine tallies.
Cursty Jackson was second for UNLV in kills with seven. Jackson added six digs, four assists and two blocks to her stat line.
Samantha Richard tallied her third double-double of the year by combining her 13 assists and 12 digs together. Richard threw down one kill also.
TCU got double-digit kill efforts from Lauren Otto and Irene Hester, as the pair threw down 11 and 10 kills apiece, respectively.
Megan Munce owned the match-high in digs with 33 and added six digs, as well.
Katelyn Blackwood led the match in digs with 18.
UNLV is back in action on Saturday (Oct. 17) afternoon at 1:00 pm MT/12:00 pm PT with a contest against New Mexico in Albuquerque.
