LAS VEGAS - 2009 UNLV Volleyball Schedule

2009 UNLV Volleyball Ticket Information

The 2009 UNLV volleyball schedule and ticket information was announced Wednesday by the athletics department. The Rebels have 27 matches scheduled with the Rebels opening up on the road the weekend of Aug. 28-29 in the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. In all, UNLV will play in four tournaments, two of which they will host. The team will play 29 matches against 19 opponents.

The Rebels schedule is highlighted by five squads that played in the 2008 NCAA Tournament and owned a combined record of 8-5. UCLA, Florida and Utah all reached the Regional Semifinals and ended with identical 2-1 records, while Colorado State and Long Beach State went 1-1 and into the Second Round.

All five teams finished ranked in the final Bison/AVCA Top 25 Poll. UCLA owned the highest year-end ranking, as they came in at #8. Florida followed closely behind at #10, while #16 Utah, #23 Long Beach State and #24 Colorado State rounded out the quintet.

Season tickets are only $40 for adults and teens (13 and older) and $30 for UNLV staff/faculty and seniors (50 and older) for 14 home contests. Individual tickets will be sold for $7 apiece for adults and teens and $5 for staff/faculty and seniors. As always, kids 12 and under will be free all season long. UNLV students are free with their Rebel Card.

As previously stated, UNLV will open up on the road in the state of Florida. The Rebels will play a pair of matches at the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational. UNLV will serve it up first against the Florida Gators on Friday, Aug. 28 before facing the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday, Aug. 29.

UNLV will then return for back-to-back home weekends with two tournaments of its own. The Rebels will host UCLA, Loyola Marymount and Idaho in the Alexis Park Classic on Sept. 4-5 before welcoming UC Santa Barbara and Oregon State to the Alexis Park Invitational.

Following the conclusion of the Alexis Park Invitational, 16 of the next 18 matches will be against Mountain West Conference foes. UNLV will open up MWC competition against six-time, regular-season champion Colorado State on Sept. 18. The MWC schedule runs from the CSU match to Nov. 21 with a return trip to Fort Collins, Colo.

Sprinkled amongst the 16-match MWC slate are two non-conference tilts. The first one is a home affair against Seattle on Oct. 10. The second is an in-state battle against Nevada-Reno that will take place up north.

The Rebels will close out the regular season at the Mizuno Thanksgiving Tournament in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 27-28. UNLV will face two Big West Conference foes in Long Beach State (Nov. 27) and Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 28).

UNLV's schedule can be broken down by conferences, as well. Besides the 16 games against MWC opponents, the Rebels will play three against Big West squads and a pair each against the Western Athletic and Pac-10 Conferences. They will play single contests against the SEC, West Coast Conference, Summit League and one Independent.
