Volleyball Adds One More

June 2, 2011

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball program has received a national letter of intent from spring signee Elisa Brochado to enroll at the university and play for the Rebels starting in the fall of 2011, head coach Cindy Fredrick announced. Brochado joins Daryn Glenn, a fall of 2010 signee, as members of Fredricks' first Rebel class.

Brochado, a 5-10 outside hitter from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was a two-year starter at the College of Southern Idaho where she helped the Golden Eagles to the 2009 NJCAA National Championship. This past season, she earned 2010 All-NJCAA Region 18 - Scenic West Athletic Conference Second Team honors and led the team in kills (399) and kills per set (3.30). In all, she saw action in 70 matches during her two-year stint at CSI with 63 starts and accumulated 714 kills, 570 digs, 95 total blocks, 83 aces and 42 assists. She was also named to the 2009 All-NJCAA National Tournament Team as a server.

Glenn, a 6-0 outside hitter from Corona, Calif., will graduate from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in 2011. She lettered three times for the Mustangs in volleyball at both the setter and outside hitter positions during her freshman, sophomore and junior years. She has played on the club level the past five, most recently with 951 Elite out of Temecula, Calif.

"We are very excited to have Elisa and Daryn join the Rebel volleyball program," said Fredrick. "Elisa is a very solid, all-around player who will also bring experience and maturity to the team. Daryn is a very competitive player who will give the Rebels a solid block outside as well as excellent offensive skills. They will both add a great deal of depth to our outside hitting position."
